Live the little things

They say you only get the chance to raise your children once, so I’m making a conscious effort to live the little things. Going with the flow, letting the housework slide and squeezing in some fun activities. The dishes can wait and the girls are willing to do a quick tidy up, if it means they get out the door quicker!

4 ways to support local business

We all want to see our favourite businesses survive these uncertain times. Here are 4 simple ways to support local business.

1. Shop Local

Buy from the fabulous folks of the Grampians. Purchase from the makers, the creatives, and growers. Small businesses are really struggling. If the option isn’t available, or you are not in a position to shop locally, there are numerous other ways to show support.

2. engage and connect

Comment on posts, stories and blogs. Respond to polls and questions so that your favourite account doesn’t feel like they are just talking to themselves. Tag your friends in a post if you think it is something that they might be interested in.

Kids Cooking Classes with Chef Cat Clarke – Isolation Chronicles

With all the physical distancing restrictions, it is easy to feel isolated and lonely. However, there are so many opportunities to connect, especially online. Over the last year, I have become “Instagram Friends” with Cat Clarke. In other words, we haven’t actually met in person, but we comment regularly on each other’s posts and send direct messages. Royal Mail Hotel Dunkeld Kitchen Garden Tour

Happiness is exploring the Royal Mail Hotel kitchen garden, with the Head Chef creating an amazing meal for you. It is a perfect way to appreciate where your food comes from. The kitchen garden supplies herbs, fruit and vegetables to both restaurants; Wickens at Royal Mail and the Parker Street Project. Dave explained that up to 80% of the produce on the Wickens menu is grown onsite and harvested daily by the kitchen team. For instance, potatoes, garlic, onions and leafy greens.

Few of my favourite things

Every day my eldest daughter and I play a game where we chat about her 3 favourite things, what she liked most about her day. We play this in the car on our way home or as we lay in her bed at the end of the day. It always amazes me the little things that matter most to her. I try to predict her responses, but often my guesses don’t appear in her list.

Harrow Long Lunch

There is a buzz in Harrow on the day of the Long Lunch, a near palpable excitement.
The delicious smell of Greek lamb wafts through the beautifully decorated setting. The Hall is full of great conversation, smiling people and enchanting music.

There is always something happening in this picturesque town, that I now call home. The Harrow Long Lunch, established in 2018 is an exciting addition to the social calendar.

5 reasons why I started a blog

1. I’m aspiring to inspire

This blog is a collection of stories, events and resources for people who want to connect with their community. There are many people out there who are looking for help/solutions/ideas to genuinely connect and to live the life they love.

I’m hoping readers will find inspiration in my writing to step outside their comfort zone. Whether that be to attend an event, volunteer on a committee or even run a similar event in their community.

The more you share and connect, the more your community grows. That is one of the reasons I started a blog.
