What is Windrowing?
The windrower cuts crops and forms it into windrows. It also cuts and conditions hay. The windrows allow the crop to cure before being baled or harvested. Whether a crop is windrowed or direct harvested depends on various factors such as the variety, soil types, seasonal conditions and the size of the crop.
Why do our clients windrow crops?
- Windrowing speeds up the process of drying the crop down to a moisture content suitable for harvesting and storage.
- To allow earlier harvest because the seed matures more evenly
- Helps evening of maturity where soil types vary and are in individual paddocks
- Reduces loss from hail and excessive winds.
- Provides more flexibility for the client as the timing of harvest is not as critical
- Reduces shattering losses during harvest
- We have full spraying capabilities that can help with in crop weed control
